The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is committed to ensuring that all vehicle repairs, modifications, and construction adhere to the highest safety and regulatory standards. To support this objective, LTA has appointed accredited engineers who are qualified to assess and certify vehicles that have been written off, but are deemed repairable (repairable write-offs only), as well as vehicles undergoing modifications or construction.
LTA-accredited engineers are thoroughly vetted professionals with the technical expertise and knowledge required to perform these critical assessments. Their role is to inspect and verify that repairable written-off vehicles have been properly restored to meet safety, structural, and mechanical standards. In addition to repair certifications, accredited engineers evaluate vehicle modifications, ensuring that any changes made to the vehicle do not compromise its safety or performance, and comply with LTA regulations. They also assess vehicle constructions to verify adherence to required specifications.
Vehicle owners seeking to repair a written-off vehicle, undertake modifications, or vehicle construction must engage an LTA-accredited engineer for certification. This process is essential to ensure that vehicles meet legal road safety standards before being registered and allowed back on the road. By working with an LTA-accredited engineer, vehicle owners contribute to safer roads and ensure their vehicles meet all necessary compliance requirements.
