Pre – Requisites (Prior Condition Before Application)
- Your client ID must be created in the system. If the Client ID does not exist, then it must be created, refer to Client Creation Process:
- Pay all your convicted TIN’s.
Checklists
- Customs Entry Document- stamped by Customs (must include chassis number)
- Bill of Lading (Original or certified true copy by the shipping agent-must include chassis number)
- A certificate to the satisfaction of the Authority containing the following information – all relevant identification numbers VIN and engine of the vehicle.
Note: The consignee on the Customs entry and Bill of Lading must be the same
Fees:
- Application for first registration -$14.50
- New number plate - $14.50
- Fitting of number plate - $5.00
- Motor Vehicle Accident Levy (MVAL) -Third party- Determined by Vehicle Class
- Vehicle inspection – $14.50
- Certificate of inspection -$14.50
- W/Tax- Determine by the engine cc/Class
- Road Levy - To be determine by the engine cc
Exemption Fee (Dye Glass etc.) - $87.50

Process
- Fill the application form (you can get this form online or at LTA’s office).
- Submit application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the VEO for verification of vehicle details.
- Upon receipt, the VEO will physically inspect the vehicle to confirm the vehicle details updated on the first registration form.
- The registration documents are submitted to the CSO
- Once the CSO updates your application in the system you will need to pay the first registration fees outlined above.
- Apply for a Motor Vehicle Accident Levy (MVAL) -Third party
- You will be required to pay for the MVAL/third-party fees and the registration certificate. This applies only to brand-new private vehicles with a manufacturing date of less than 3 years.
- Once all steps are completed, the number plate is issued to the VEO to be affixed to the vehicle.
- For Commercial vehicles
Once the CSO has updated your application in the system, you will be required to pay the fees listed as 1-4 above.
After paying the application fees, updating the MVAL/third-party, and receiving your receipt, you will need to take your vehicle for inspection. The authorized vehicle examiner will inspect your vehicle and enter the results into their system. If the vehicle fails the inspection, the examiner will issue a vehicle inspection result sheet
- You will need to fix any defects, pay for the inspection again, and undergo a re-inspection. If the inspection is passed, you will then return to the CSO to pay the applicable fees, as referenced in fees 5-8 above.
- The CSO to process the registration certificate and the number plate is issued to the VEO to be affixed to the vehicle.
