Self-Import Vehicle First Registration?

To register a self-imported vehicle, you will need to fulfill some conditions. Below is the process of how you can successfully register your self-imported vehicle.

Pre – requisites (Prior Condition before Application)

  1. Original Birth Certificate or Valid Passport if owner does not have a Fiji Driver's License
  2. Tax Number

Checklists (What to carry with you when at the Counter)

  1. If you are not a client in LTA, then carry the following:
    1. Take with you your original birth certificate.
    2. TIN Letter (From FRCA)
    3. ID Card
  2. Cancellation of Registration from another country – If vehicle is second hand
  3. If you are a company,
    1. the Memorandum and Article of Association.
    2. Company’s registration certificate with director’s name and signatories.
  4. Custom Entry Document.
  5. Bill of Landing.
  6. Import licence from FRCA

Fees

1 Application Fees for first registration $13.74
2 Issue of new Number Plate $13.74
3 Fitting of Number Plate $4.74
4 Inspection Fees $13.74
5 Issuance of Inspection certificate $13.74
6 Annual Registration ranging from $​43.60 - $​328.42 depending on
the size of engine
7 Road User Levy ranging from $​3.79 - $​109.00 depending on
the size of engine

Process

  1. Fill in the application form (you can get this form online or at LTA’s office.)
  2. Submit the application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the Customer Service Officer (CSO)
  3. CSO will then submit to RMCE for self import approval
  4. Physical verification process of the vehicle by vehicle examiners
  5. Submit to CSO who will update your application in the system, you will need to pay the fees 1-4 above.
  6. After you have paid the application fees, 3rd party updated and you have got your receipt, you will need to take your vehicle for inspection. LTA’s approved vehicle examiner will examine your vehicle and enter the result in their system. If inspection is failed, the Vehicle examiner will issue you the defect form. You will need to fix the defects, pay for inspection again and re-do the inspection.
  7. If the inspection is passed, then you will once again come back to the CSO and pay fees 5-7 above.
  8. You will receive your number plate and registration certificate.
