New Registration (Second Hand Vehicles)

  Pre – Requisites (Prior Condition Before Application)

  1. Your client ID must be created in the system. If the Client ID does not exist, then it must be created, refer to Client Creation Process:
  2. Pay all your convicted TIN’s.

  Checklists

  1. Customs Entry Documentation -Original and Stamped by Customs (must include chassis number).

  2. Bill of Lading -- Original or certified true copy by the shipping agent (must include chassis number).

  3. Motor Vehicle De-Registration Certificate -Original certificate of de-registration (Cancellation Certificate) issued by the appropriate Authority of the last country of registration.

  4. English Translation of De-Registration Certificate (if applicable) - If the certificate is in a foreign language, an English translation by the appropriate Authority of the last country of registration is required.

  5. Importer’s Declaration - A certificate from the importer stating whether the vehicle was imported into the Fiji Islands as a complete vehicle unit, as presented for registration, as component parts, incorporating a full body or shell, as component parts (other than a full body or shell), or in any other condition.

  6. Manufacturer’s Specifications/Manual - For plants, machinery, and equipment not registered in other countries, a Manufacturer’s Specifications/Manual detailing the year of manufacture is required in lieu of a De-registration Certificate.

  7. Ministry of Labor Certificate - A certificate from the Ministry of Labor certifying that the mechanical parts of the machinery are OHS compliant.

  8. FRCS Tender/Auction Vehicle Documentation -For vehicles sold by tender/auction by Fiji Revenue and Customs Services (FRCS), a confirmation letter from FRCS must be produced by the agent before registration. The letter should include the name of the winning tenderer and all vehicle details, including chassis and engine numbers.

  9. Compliance Certificate - A certificate from the certifying officer confirming that the vehicle conforms to all applicable laws and requirements of the Authority for the construction and equipment of the vehicle.

  10. A certificate to the satisfaction of the Authority containing the vehicle's relevant identification numbers (VIN and engine number).

  1. Application for first registration -$14.50
  2. New number plate - $14.50
  3. Fitting of number plate - $5.00
  4. Motor Vehicle Accident Levy (MVAL) -Third party- Determined by Vehicle Class
  5. Vehicle inspection – $14.50
  6. Certificate of inspection -$14.50
  7. W/Tax- Determine by the engine cc/Class
  8. Road Levy - To be determine by the engine cc

Process
:

  1. Fill the application form (you can get this form online or at LTA’s office).

  2. Submit application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the VEO for verification of vehicle details.

  3. Submit the application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the Customer Service Officer. (CSO)

  4. Once the CSO has updated your application in the system, you will need to pay the fees 1-4 above. After you have paid the application fees, 3rd party updated and you have got your receipt, you will need to take your vehicle for inspection. LTA’s approved vehicle examiner will examine your vehicle and enter the result in their system. If inspection is failed, the Vehicle examiner will issue the vehicle inspection result sheet. You will need to fix the defects, pay for inspection again and re-do the inspection.

  5. If the inspection is passed, then you will once again come back to the CSO and pay the applicable fees refer to (5-8) above.

    *You will be issued with the registration certificate the number plate is issued to the VEO to be affixed to the vehicle.
