Permit to Drive Unregistered Vehicle

You should have a permit to drive un-registered/ expired registration vehicle if you intend to register your vehicle. This will assure you that you are not driving your un-registered vehicle illegally. Another time that you should get a permit to drive is when your vehicle registration is expired and you are intending to drive it from one point to the other. The Permit to Drive is issued for the day from Point A to Point B only.

 Pre – Requisites (Prior Condition Before Application)

  1. Vehicle Third Party should be valid.

  2. The permit is only issue for taking vehicle to a garage for repair OR to LTA for inspection.

  3. Pay all your convicted TIN’s.

  1. Updated 3rd party if not already in LTA’s system.

Process

  1. Submit Valid MVAL/Third-Party to the CSO (Customer Service Officer).

  2. Third-Party Update - Once the CSO has successfully updated the third-party information in the system, pay the required fee

  3.  If the vehicle is unregistered, ensure it is issued based on its Chassis and Engine Number.

  4. After payment, you will receive a receipt from the CSO.

  5. Upon receiving your payment receipt, the CSO will issue the permit for the vehicle.

  6. If the vehicle will be traveling between regions and returning, an advice slip must be provided by the Vehicle Examiner. Once the vehicle returns, you can collect your permit from the CS.
