How to Register a Locally Assembled Vehicle?

To register a Locally Assembled Vehicle, certain requirements must be met. The steps below outline the registration process.

Pre – requisites (Prior Condition before Application)

  1. Your client ID must be created in the system or if you do not have existing client ID refer here Creation of Client ID 

Requirements

  1. Application letter - An application letter must be submitted by the client stating the reason the client requires the for Local Assembly.
  2. Plan -the 2D autocad plan is to be either in 1st or 3rd angle projection showing all detail designs, materials, dimensions, type of fasteners, anchorages and mounting points. Standardized plans are to be submitted by draftsman.
  3. Specification – the material specifications, type of joint, fastening, finishing must be provided by the manufacturers
  4. Photos of the for Local Assembly – Provides a pictorial view of the type, nature and size of the Local Assembly.
  5. Letter form the garage -letter to be provided from the garage specifying the work carried out with respect to the Local Assembly.

Application Processes 

  1. The vehicle examiner will vet the submitted documents once satisfied will inform the applicant to pay the application fees.
  2. A technical report will be prepared by the vehicle examiner and submitted for approval with the technical requirements as mentioned in point number 1 above. 
  3. If approved, the applicant will be advised to pay the approval fees for Local Assembly by the vehicle examiner.
  4. If rejected the vehicle examiner will notify the applicant on the reasons for rejection.
  5. Following each stage, the applicant must submit a report from an LTA Accredited engineer or Authorized Officer at the completion of various stages. LTA Accredited Engineer is recommended for bus construction certification.
  6. A final report and certification must be submitted by the applicant from an LTA Accredited Engineer or Authorized Officer upon completion of the Local Assembly process.
  7. The vehicle examiner advises the applicant to pay the relevant fees for vehicle inspection.
  8. A compliance check is conducted by the vehicle examiner before the Local Assembly vehicle is registered.
