The Land Transport Authority of Fiji allows overseas driver licences to be converted to Fiji Driver Licence. This applies to countries where the driver sits on the right side of the vehicle and the vehicle is driven on the left side of the road.
Requirements (What to bring)
- Applicant must be physically present at LTA Branch for the driver licence application process.
- Complete LTA Issue of Driver Licence application form.
- Original Birth Certificate /Valid Passport.
- Original Foreign Driver License card or digital Driver License.
- Translation letter (if driver License card is not in English). Translation letter must be issued by the Transport Agency of the Country/State or respective Embassy of the issuing Country.
- Authenticity/ Confirmation letter from the issuing Authority
- Valid Visa Permit - (Letter from FID) (individuals holding Visitor permits are not eligible to be issued with a local driver's license)
- Medical Certificate (is required where applicant is over 70 years old);
- Must clear all pending fines (over 90 days) prior to applying for an application to convert a Foreign to Fiji Driver Licence.
Process
- Refer to creation of Client ID and Process
- All documents submitted by the applicant are verified by the Customer Service Officer, who will then initiate the application process.
- Application is forwarded to the Team Leader Registration for assessment and recommendation based on the provided documentation.
- Forwarded to the Manager Registration Licensing and Driving for final assessment and decision
- Application will travel to the Customer Service Officer to process the conversion or to book for driving test if required
Note: The type of Overseas Driver Licence you possess will determine your eligibility for a Fiji Licence. The customer service officer will provide guidance on whether you are required to undergo a driving test.
