LTA Online Registration

  1. What is online registration? 

    LTA’s online registration adds Fijian driving license holders to LTA’s database by registering them, allowing for easier access to LTA services and more efficient database.


    LTA’s online registration allows stakeholders (individuals, companies, NGO’s, diplomats, diplomats organisation, individual foreign and sole trader) to access LTA services that are available online.

  2. How does online registration benefit me?

    Registering for online services has numerous benefits that include easier access and speed of services. Some services you can access online include:

    * Calculating your license renewal or vehicle-renewal cost and making payments;
    * Submitting learners permit applications for other license classes directly online;
    * Paying online and studying defensive driving course online modules;
    * Submitting driver license renewal applications;
    * Viewing and paying for all pending traffic infringement notices online.

  3. How can I register online?

    You can register by:

    * Sending an email to online@lta.com.fj;
    * Visiting https://www.lta.com.fj/ and using our Live Chat to submit directly; and
    * Coming down to any LTA office and getting directly registered by our staff.

    You will need to provide these details:

    LTA staff will assist customers who do not have access to the internet.

  4. What if I do not have internet access or a smartphone?

    If you don’t have internet access or a smartphone, please visit an LTA office near you and our staff will assist you with the registration process.

  5. How much does online registration cost? 

    There is no cost to getting registered online.

  6. How will I know I am registered? 

    Once your e-services account is registered, you will receive an email with the subject ‘LTA Online Services - Online Client Profile Activation’. The email lists down steps and provides you with a username and password that will be used for activation.

    After you have successfully activated your account, you will receive another email with the subject ‘LTA Online Services - New Account Activation’ with the message that you have changed your password successfully.

  7. How often do I have to register? 

    You will only need to register and activate your account once.

  8. I can’t log in using the username given after receiving confirmation from LTA. What do I do?

    If you receive an error ‘User Account is not activated’ for e-services, please follow the steps below:

    * Copy and paste the link on your web browser from the initial activation email received.
    * It will direct you to reset your password.
    * Enter the temporary password provided on the email as old password and new password (Must contain one lower & uppercase letter, and one special character (!,@,#,$,%,&, etc).
    * This should allow you to log in successfully.

  10. I have downloaded the LTA app from google play store/app store on my smartphone, does this mean I am registered online?

    No, unfortunately, the app and online registration are two different things. You have to register online even if you have the app.

    Your details need to be updated via the online registration process which will enable you to register for online services and mobile app

  11. What do I do when I forget my password?

    Click on the ‘forgot my password’ link on the login page and answer the secret question or choose to get a new password via the email by entering your email address.

  12. Can I view someone else’s information?

    No, you have access to your information only

  13. Can I change my email ID?

    Yes, you can update your email id whenever you wish to via LTA eservices.

  14. If I enter wrong password will my account be locked?

    Yes, after three wrong attempts your account will be locked.

  15. What to do when my account is locked?

    Contact LTA or email online@lta.com.fj, we will verify and then unlock your account, and a new password will be sent to your email address.

  16. What are the services I can use online?

    * Check for License expiry date

  17. From where can I access the online e - services?

    From anywhere as e-services is an internet-based application, you just need to have internet access.

  18. Are there any system requirements for these online e-services?

    Supported Browsers are:

    *Mozilla (version 42 and above)
    *Chrome (version 47 and above)
    *Internet Explorer 10 and above

  19. Can clients with learners permit or expired license register for online e-services?

    Yes, anyone who has a client id (license number) can register.

  20. What are the Renewal fees for Full License and the requirement?

    Fill the driver license for Renewal Update Form. Provide a recent passport size photo.  Clear traffic fines if, they are convicted Renewal Fees: 1yr - $13.74 3yr - $40.28 6yr - $80.56. The mentioned requirements are for Group 1,2,6,7,8,9. 

    Note: If you are 70+ years of age, you will need to provide a request letter with a recent medical report.  Note: For third party transaction, kindly provide authorization letter, passport photo needs to be certified by a JP or COA.

Alteration for Records

  1. For which services the alteration of record fee is not charged?

    * Update of Email Address
    * Residential Address

  2. What are the Documents required for updating the records?

    Please ensure to provide one of the IDS for verification:

    * Driver License
    * Birth Certificate
    * Voter Id
    * FNPF / FRCA Card
    * Students – USP Card

  3. Does the legal owner need to be present at the counter for change of records?

    Consent letter is required from the registered owner on Certain Cases:

    * If the registered owner is sick, or out of the country
    * If the employee is coming on behalf of the Director
    * If there is any special case apart from the items mentioned above, please contact Manager Customer Service

  4. What is the timeline to update the records?

    The request is updated via our information system on the same day at the counter, Instant Data update.

  5.  Is there any specific application form that I need to fill in?

    There is no need to fill in the application form, if you are the registered owner, please provide one of the IDS as mentioned above and if you are requesting for the change in record for someone else then the concern letter is required at the counter for the specific scenarios mention above.

 

LTA General Questions

  1. I’m unable to visit LTA in person and I have sent someone else on my behalf to conduct transactions in LTA.

    For business customers there should be authorization letter endorsed by the owner and for business if there is authorization letter on the official business letter head and stamp with the official company stamp that will be accepted.

    For other customers we need the legal owner to be present at the counter unless there is authorization letter endorsed by the owner.

  2. My contact details are incorrect in LTA, and I have been charged a late payment penalty because I was unaware that I had TINs and only found out when I came for vehicle renewal.

    * It’s mandated by the LTA law that it’s the customer’s responsibility to update your name phone and contact details including the residential address, postal address within 4 days from the date the change occurred. The Authority will send information to the client as per the Authority records- clients last known address and contact details.

    * Also, you can register via LTA Application APP by downloading the App from google play (android) or APP store for IOS. However please note that your email account and your mobile contact must be the same one as currently registered with LTA.

    * Should you wish to update your email account, mobile contact, residential address, postal address, driver license details please visit the nearest LTA office and fill in the relevant forms.

  3. I am enquiring about the TIN refund; I was booked by LTA / Police and was given the TIN. I challenged my case in the court, and it’s been acquitted. How do I get my refund?

    * The client needs to write a request letter to LTA concerning refund, court sealed order to be attached, copy of the Original Receipt of TIN paid and the information to be submitted to LTA frontline office.

    * In a situation where you have lost the original receipt, you can submit the statutory declaration that you have lost the receipt.

    * If the Documents are incomplete, the authority will not accept incomplete documentation, and refunds will not be facilitated unless all documents are submitted by the client.

    * The faster the completed documents are submitted to the Authority, the sooner the authority will be able to facilitate the refund process.

    * It's mandatory to provide your bank account details and the authority will deposit the refund amount via your bank account.
     
  4. What is LTA doing about Illegal operations?

    * One of the challenges that LTA is facing is the large number of Anecdotal complaints received by the authority, with lack of factual evidence that will be able to stand up in court.

    * For LTA to proceed with the investigation the following to be provided:

         * Statutory Declaration witness by the commissioner of oaths or justice of peace.
         * Date of the incident, location, time, photos or videos.
         * Any other relevant information pertaining to the incident.
     
  5. What are the requirements in obtaining a Learners Permit?

    The requirements for obtaining a Learners Permit are as follows: -

    * 2 Passport size photos as per Fiji Immigration Guideline
    * Original Birth Certificate OR passport
    * Should be 16 ½ years and above
    * TIN letter or the FNPF joint card
    * Fill the LTA learners permit form
    * Pay the processing fees - $19
    * Road Code book - $9.48 (Optional)
     
  6. If I lost my Learners Permit Card, what do I do in order to replace it?

    You need to do the following: -

    * Before Lodging the complaint with the police, conduct the search details with LTA and take the printout of the search record and attached to your form that you lodged with the police for your lost learners permit card.
    * Fill a Statutory Declaration Form; witnessed by a JP, Commissioner of Oath or a lawyer.
    * Fill the Learners Permit Application Form
    * Attached your police report.
    * Pay a fee of $3.79

    Please note that the above is only for valid Learners Permit.

    (Note: those learners permit card that have already expired, you will need to go through Driver Knowledge Test Skills (DKTS) again, then you will be issued with a new learners permit card, should you pass the DKTS).

  7. How do I get a PSV License?

    You may apply at any LTA Office and produce the following:

    Original birth certificate
    * 1 passport size photo
    * Group 2 valid full license
    * Fees of $4.74
    * Application assessed, if approved - Apply for Police Clearance either with LTA or at Central Police Station - $18.96 fees
    * If no adverse records you may apply for Learners Permit - $16.11
    * Defensive Driving - $72.51
    * Driving Test fees - $15.17
    * Issue of PSV Driving License – Fees will depend on the validity of the current License
    * All pending fines to be cleared.
     
  8. My number Plate was removed from my vehicle / lost/ stolen/ damaged. What do I do to get a replacement?

    For Lost/Stolen number plates, you need to:

    * Report it to Police as we need a Police report
    * Fill in a Statutory declaration and to be signed a Justice of Peace, Commissioner of Oath or a Lawyer
    * Fill in the Replacement Number Plate form
    * $13.74 fees for replacement of number plates – Private and PSV
    * $17 for Commercial Vehicles

    For Damaged number plates, you need to:

    * Fill in the Replacement Number Plate form
    * $14.50 fees for replacement of number plates – Private and PSV
    * $16.11 for Commercial Vehicles
    * Surrender damaged number plates.

    (Suspension upon request) – will be another question.

  9. I wish to change my vehicle number to a name, what should I do? (Unique Number)

    You should do the following:

    * Fill in the appropriate form.
    * Request form explaining the meaning of the number applied for
    * If vehicle is under Financial Interest, a consent from the Financier on the change of number.
    * Maximum letter or figure is 6
    * If approved, a letter will be issued
    * Amend Vehicle number on third party accordingly.
    * $314.68 – fees
    * Wheel tax sticker would be issued, after the number plate is affixed on the vehicle.

    (Note: We will not be printing any rude/ obscene/ offensive unique letters)
     
  10. Bus Companies Route are operating without legal timetable?

    * One of the challenges that LTA is facing is the large number of Anecdotal complaints received by the authority, with lack of factual evidence that will be able to stand up in court.

    * For LTA to proceed with the investigation the following to be provided:

    * Statutory Declaration Witness by the commissioner of oaths or justice of peace.
    * Date of the incident, location, time, photos or videos.
    * Any other relevant information pertaining to the incident.

  11. Overloading Booking is too much and most of the companies are suffering in terms of their return as per the cost involved and distance covered?

    LTA is only carrying out its duties to ensure that every vehicle operated on Fiji road comply with the legal weight limit. The government is spending a lot of money to repair damages to the infrastructure including roads and bridges, so we need to maintain the weight within the legal limit.

  12. LTA enforcement vehicles should not chase overloaded trucks but to erect check points only.

    LTA will only chase those vehicles that do not stop on the checkpoint or suspected of overloading or other offences anywhere along any route (law- authorized officer as per law).

  13. I have come across some of the LTA enforcement officers and some of them are quite rude and how can I lodged complain against them?

    * One of the challenges that LTA is facing the large number of Anecdotal complaints received by the authority, with lack of factual evidence that will be able to stand up in court.

    * For LTA to proceed with the investigation the following to be provided:

         * Statutory Declaration witness by the commissioner of oaths or justice of peace.
         * Date of the incident, location, time, photos or videos.
         * Any other relevant information pertaining to the incident.

  14. Why Double standards are practiced in different branches in Enforcement areas. Such as Lights/PSV badges booking on minor defects by Police.


    * For LTA all Minor defects will be issued with defect orders and for major defects tins will be issued. For other enforcement agencies issue should be raised through collective meeting with police.

    * For the defect orders, for Minor defects the customer has 14 days to rectify the defect from the date of issuance. For major defects since this is issued due to safety concerns in line with VRC regulation 2000 regulation 106.

  15. Driving test appointment is fully booked for the next 4 weeks and I need earlier date?

    You need to do prior booking as you get the date for driving appointment from the nearest LTA office. You can also call our call center and check if there is any cancellation of booking so that you can get the earlier date (however please note this is subject to the availability).

  16. I’m selling my vehicle, and I want to transfer it to the new buyer. I have my sale and purchase agreement with me. What is the process for this?

    Self-Import Vehicle


    * For self-import vehicle, this refers to the vehicle that was brought into the country by individual or company apart from Authorized Motor Vehicle Dealer (AMVD). The self-import vehicle will not be transferred within the 5 years period unless the following conditions are met:

        * Migration
        * Death
        * Seizure under Mortgage
        * Court Order

    * Transfers to be made between siblings or immediate family members, immediate family members consist of spouse of the client, parents, grandchildren, sister, brother, child by blood, adoption or DeFacto marriage.

    * Transfer to be made between subsidiary companies.

    * If imported and not registered in Fiji for more than five (5) years vehicle owners to submit documents to prove the day the motor vehicle or machinery landed in Fiji and the landing price of the motor vehicle or machinery.

    * A motor vehicle insurer disposing of a motor vehicle involved in accident which is or has been the subject of a motor vehicle insurance policy issued by the insurer.

    * Transfer of Self Motor Vehicle from Diplomat to Diplomat where both the owner and the buyer is an expatriate and is accorded third/fourth (3rd / 4th) Schedule under the Fiji Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities act of 1971.Both diplomatic parties should serve in Fiji at least 2 years before transfer is considered.

    * Transfer approved based on medical grounds with all the supporting documents to be verified.
    Documents required:
            * Letter request from the client
            * Supporting documents from the client subject to the transfer grounds mention above
            * JEVIC Certificate if JEVIC is available in from the country of origin.
            * Vehicle Photos
            * Registration document such as bill of lading, customs clearance form, statutory declaration form confirming self-import.
            * There should be no fines between both parties before we facilitate the transfer.
            * Once the management has endorsed the self-import vehicle transfer, transfer will be facilitated as per due process.

    AMVD Vehicle

    *Transfer document and the relevant application form must be filled and submitted by the client as per due process.
    * There should be no fines between both parties before we facilitate the transfer.LTA will facilitate any transfer if requirements are met.  Relevant supporting documents, concern of buyer/seller, stamp and signatures, to be provided. LTA will not interfere with the buyer and seller’s deal and agreements.

  17. Why the 70 years old have to go for a driving test?

    It is mandatory by law; they have to be present at the counter as well. They have to submit the valid medical report and the police report.
     
  18. I’m Confused about the transfer registration & value if it’s transferred on for stamp duty?

    Transfer depends on good will between family members and vehicle valuation to be provided. Letter from FRCS is required / FRCS will advise whether the stamp duty is exempted or not.

  19. Transfer of taxi base and stand. Is it Possible?

    The law does not allow any transfer of base and stand. Note for the zonal taxis you can only transfer within the Zone.

  20. Rentals are being used as taxi’s especially at night in weekends. What is LTA doing about this?

    * For LTA to proceed with the investigation the following to be provided:

         * Statutory Declaration witness by the commissioner of oaths or justice of peace.
         * Date of the incident, location, time, photos or videos.
         * Any other relevant information pertaining to the incident.

  21. How do we know red-light speed cameras are accurate?

    Red light speed cameras undergo a comprehensive evaluation and testing procedure to ensure their accuracy and reliability. Experts authorized by Weights and Measures inspect each camera system and verify its accuracy and proper function before it becomes operational and afterwards at regular intervals. The camera recording device is inspected every 60 days and is inspected at least every 12 months, in line with current legal requirements. An inspection is also conducted after any maintenance or repair of either of these devices.

  22. What if I wasn't the driver at the time of the issuance of red-light tin?

     If you were not driving the vehicle at the time of the offence, you should provide the name and details of the driver by completing the Statuary Declaration certified by the JP provided with the penalty notice and a copy of the driver’s driving license and forwarded to LTA Office for processing. That is before the 90 days (refer to the previous answer –60 days document submission). 

  23. Where can we get the LTA public Notice regarding the fare changes or any other LTA news?

    All the LTA public Notice that is been out for media release has been uploaded in our website- www.lta.com.fj. Include Facebook page. All fare review will be conducted by FCCC.

  24. I need extra fitting and modification work to be done in my vehicle. what to do in this case?

    It is mandatory by law; a client needs to make application to LTA by filling in the relevant application forms and attaching the relevant documents.  Client must prove beyond reasonable doubt that the fitting is technically essential to the primary use of the applicable vehicle.

  25. Installation of fire extinguishers in taxi. Is it the requirement of taxis?

    All PSV vehicles are required with fire extinguisher. “Steering Fiji Safely” if you think about safety of passengers and vehicle while in case of fire, then fire extinguisher is required. There are so many hybrid vehicles on the road as taxis and rentals with high voltage electrical system.

  28. Vehicle Transfer

    Procedure for transferring vehicle ownership with LTA Appropriate LTA form to be filled and signed by the current and new owner: signature to match the LTA records Transfer to be lodged within 7 days of actual transfer fee - $17.53 Provide original 3rd party Copy for Third Party Transfer Take out the registration sticker from the car and surrender to the CSO. No fines to be on record. Either the buyer or the sellers Client ID with LTA Extra Documents to provide:  If the vehicle is under Bill of Sale, please provide a letter from the financier.  For Company Vehicles, provide the consent letter for transfer.

  30. What is the LTA Opening Hours?

    Opening Hours are as follows:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday - 8.15am - 3.30pm   & Friday - 8.15am - 3pm. All LTA office closes on Saturday and Public Holidays.

    You will have to:

    * Write a request for renewal letter stating reasons for not undergoing driving test within the time of Leaners Permit validity.
    * Fill in the application form
    * Pay a fee of $6.50
     
    (Note that this is a normal process of Learner's Permit renewal)
     
  35. What are the requirements for renewal of Provisional License?

    The requirements for renewal of Provisional Licenses are:
     
    * Defensive Driving Course - $34
    * Fill the Driver’s License Renewal Update form
    * Ensure that your traffic fines are cleared if convicted in Court.
    * Renewal fees - 1yr - $13.74, 3yrs - $40.28, 6yrs - $80.57

  36. If my driver license is expired, what am I required to do? (Full License)

    Expired driver license for less than 3 years, you need to:

    * Fill the driver license Renewal Update form
    * Clear traffic fines if they are convicted
    * For Classes 6, 7, 9 – produce a current Medical Certificate if already expired.
    * Renewal fees - 1yr - $13.74, 3yrs - $40.28, 6yrs - $80.57
    * Pay Arrears - $13.74 per year

    Expired driver license for more than 3 years but less than 6 years, there are 2 Options:

    Option 1

    * Request in writing for renewal without undergoing a driving test
    * Fill the driver license Renewal Update form
    * Clear traffic fines if they are convicted
    * Produce a current Medical Certificate.
    * Undergo Defensive Driving Certificate
    * Renewal fees - 1yr - $13.74, 3yrs - $40.28, 6yrs - $80.57
    * Arrears is $13.74 per year

    Option 2
    (New Application)

    * Apply for a Leaners Permit
    * Undergo Driving Test
    * Clear traffic fines if already convicted
    * Pay fee for re-issue: 1yr - $13.74, 3yrs - $40.28, 6yrs - $80.57

    Expired driver license for more than 6 years, you need to:
     (New Application)

    * Apply for a Leaner's Permit
    * Undergo Driving Test
    * Clear traffic fines if already convicted
    * Pay fee for re-issue: 1yr - $13.74, 3yrs - $40.28, 6yrs - $80.57
     
  37. My PSV license has expired; can I renew it like the private license?

    If expired within 1 year, all you need to do is

    * To fill the appropriate form
    * To have a valid Defensive Driving Certificate
    * A valid Medical Report
    * Pay a renewal fee of - $20.38 (Classes 3,4,5)

    Note:  That both DDC and Medical Report is valid for 6 years.

    If expired for more than 1 year but less than 3 years, you need to do is:

    * Apply for a Learners Permit for relevant class
    * Undergo driving Test
    * To have a valid Defensive Driving Certificate
    * A valid Medical Report
    * Pay a renewal fee of - $20.38 (Classes 3,4,5)
     
    Note:  That both DDC and Medical Report is valid for 6 years.

    If expired for more than 3 years, it’s a new application, you need to

    * Apply for PSV Approval
    * Apply for Police Clearance/Vetting
    * Apply for a Learners Permit for relevant class
    * Undergo driving Test
    * Undergo Defensive Driving Course
    * Produce a current Medical Report
    * Pay a renewal fee of - $20.38 (Classes 3,4,5)

    Note: Application will be assessed prior to applying for Police Clearance to ascertain the acceptance of application.
     
  38. I have misplaced my license. How can I have my license redone?

    You will need the following: 
     
    * Police Report
    * Statutory declaration to be witnessed by a JP, Commissioner of Oath or a lawyer
    * Fill in the appropriate form
    * $7.58 for Classes 1,2,6,7,8,9
    * $14.22– for PSV license (Classes 3,4,5)
     
  39. How do I get a PSV License?

    You may apply at any LTA Office and produce the following:

    * Original birth certificate
    * 1 passport size photo
    * Group 2 valid full license
    * Fees of $4.74

    * $13.74 fees for replacement of number plates – Private and PSV
    * $17 for Commercial Vehicles

    For Damaged number plates, you need to:

    * $14.50 fees for replacement of number plates – Private and PSV

    * Fill in the appropriate form
    * Request letter explaining the meaning of the number applied for
    * If vehicle is under Financial Interest, a consent from the Financier on the change of number.

    * If approved, a letter will be issued
    * Amend Vehicle number on third party accordingly with the Insurance Company.
