Driver’s license can be renewed 28 days in advance. If you are caught on the road driving with an expired license, then your vehicle will be seized and you will need to pay a hefty penalty.
Below is the process on how to get your driver’s license renewed:
Pre – requisites (Prior Condition before Application)
- Valid DDC (Only If application is for classes 3,4 or 5 licenses).
- You need to clear all your convicted fines.
Checklists (What to bring)
- Renewal form (You can get this form from the helpdesk at LTA office).
- Medical Certificate is valid for five years from the date of issue.
- Request letter for all license holders over 60 years of age.
- Passport size photo - Photographic Requirement

Process
- Fill in the application form (you can get this form online or at LTA’s office).
- Submit the application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the Customer Service Officer (CSO).
- Once the CSO has updated your application in the system, you will need to pay the Fees.
- After you have paid the application fees and you have got your receipt, go to the card printing officer’s counter and get your printed card.
Note (Important)
You may need to do Learner’s permit and then driving test or pay arrears together with the renewal fees if your driver license is expired.
- PSV driver License expired for more than 1 year and less than 3 years.
- You will need to get a learners permit.
- Pass the driving test before getting your license renewed.
- PSV driver license expired for more than 3 years.
- Your PSV licenses will be void. You will need to re-do the whole process of getting the PSV license.
- PSV driver license renewal for client whose age is in between 60-65 years.
- If the license is valid,
- You will need to apply using process mentioned above.
- Your application will be approved/rejected by the Regional Manager.
- If the regional Manager approves your application, then you can get your license renewed for another 1 year.
- If the regional manager rejects your application, then you will need to get the learners permit and pass the driving test before your license can be renewed.
- If the license is valid,
- You will need to get the learners permit and pass the driving test before your license can be renewed.
- PSV driver license renewal for client whose age is greater than 65 years.
- Same procedure as 4 above but the approval will be given by the CEO.
- Non-PSV driver license renewal for client whose age is greater than 75 years.
- Same process as in 4 above.
