Transfer of Unique Number

There are 2 types of unique number transfer.

1. Transfer of unique number between Persons.
2. Transfer of unique number plate between vehicles.

This may also apply if the owner wishes to surrender his unique number plate and revert to its original number.

In both the scenarios, you will need to surrender your unique number first:

Pre – requisites (Prior Condition before Application)

1. If vehicle is under financial interest, a consent letter from the Financier.
2. Both the vehicles should be defect free. That is, all defects should be cleared.
3. Vehicle registration should be valid for both vehicles.

Checklists (What to bring)

1. A request letter for the transfer of unique number plate stating reasons for the transfer.
2. A consent letter from the Financier if vehicle has financial interest.​

Fees

Process

1. In both the scenario’s, you will need to surrender the unique number first. In order to do that , following process will take place,
1. Fill in the application form (you can get this form online or at LTA’s office.)
2. Submit the application form together with the checklist (as mentioned above) to the Customer Service Officer. (CSO)
3. Once the CSO has updated your application in the system, CSO will issue you with the 3rd party amendment letter. You will need to get a new 3rd party.
4. CSO will then update the 3rd party, you will be required to pay a total of $18 fee to the CSO.
5. CSO will give you back the running number and the new registration certificate.


2. Once the unique number is surrendered, you can either transfer it to your own vehicle or to another client’s vehicle.
1. If you are transferring the vehicle to another client, then just write a request letter and give it to the authority.
2. The other client will apply for your unique number to the CSO.
3. Update the 3rd party and pay the fees above.
4. CSO will print the new registration certificate.
