415 TINS Issued Over The Weekend By LTA, 20 Vehicles Impounded

Jan 16, 2018

The Land Transport Authority over the weekend impounded 20 vehicles for use of unregistered vehicles, expired driver licenses and using motor vehicle contrary to license conditions.

During the weekend operation (21/12/17-26/12/17), a total of 415 Traffic Infringement Notices (TINs) were issued nationwide by LTA, exclusion of speeding, drink and drive and dangerous driving.

LTA is concerned with the number of road users continuing to disobey the road rules and regulations.

It is sad to see that simple road rules that drivers are well versed with are being disobeyed.

Apart from this, a few omnibus drivers were also issued with TINs for not carrying disposable cards while some drivers were taken to task for code of conduct and allowing passengers to travel in the bus without collecting fare.

Random checks were also made to check passenger E-ticketing cards.

LTA is therefore advising members of the public once again to ensure that you carry your E-ticketing cards daily when using bus services.

In case you forget or misplace it, please purchase disposable cards from the bus drivers for temporary use.

The top five offences recorded within the four day operations include:

   1.   Using motor vehicle contrary to license conditions (People were caught                      using private vehicle licenses for driving taxis)

   2.  Driving unregistered motor vehicles

   3.  PSV driver conduct

   4.  Improper use of Mobile Communication

   5.  Failure to use seat belts

A team of 55 LTA officers were deployed nationwide to carry out the operations throughout the weekend.

As we approach another long weekend and embrace the New Year, members of the public are requested to abide by the road rules in order to ensure everyone’s safety and avoid any mishaps.
