LTA holds successful meeting with Fiji Taxi Association

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Fiji Taxi Association yesterday had successful discussions with regards to recent announcements to the development in the taxi industry.

The LTA executive management and respective managers explained to the FTA representatives about the regulations pertaining to the taxi permits and the announcement of the transport zones and the zonal colour coding of the taxi plates around the country.

Moreover, the FTA president, Azeem Khan, vice president, Sami Ali and general secretary, Rishi Ram expressed their support to the latest developments in the taxi industry.

As such, the LTA also received suggestions from the FTA members with regards to various changes in the industry.

Additionally, the LTA thoroughly explained to the FTA executives about the reforms which was good for the permit holders and customers including LTA as a regulator.

The LTA is glad that the FTA finally met with the LTA and cleared the confusions.

Furthermore, the Fiji Taxi Association has supported the LTA with the evolution in the taxi industry and going forward, the LTA will ensure the successful implementation of this system for the best interest of taxi operators in the country.

Meanwhile, discussions during the meeting also raised concerns with regards to the code of conduct of all taxi drivers, specifically on the dress codes.

The LTA has noted this concern of Fiji Taxi Association and will ensure compliance of code of conduct for taxi drivers and will ensure further awareness on this.

Therefore, the LTA is advising all taxi owners to ensure that their taxi drivers are well dressed with accordance to the code of conducts, while LTA enforcement team will continue to monitor this.

The LTA wishes to advise that the latest development in the taxi industry will not only cater for the demand of taxis, however bring about the high levels of standardisation within the taxi industry.
