Defensive Driving is Important for Road Safety

Sep 19, 2018

Defensive Driving is having a set of driving skills and knowledge that allows a driver to prepare against possible collisions caused by bad/poor driver behaviour and unfavourable weather conditions.

Being a good defensive driver means; knowing and obeying traffic rules and driving procedures, alert to conditions around you and your vehicle and the incorrect actions of other drivers, aware of and understanding the choices you have in risky situations and properly handle your vehicle in a dangerous situation.

It also helps to identify any potentially hazardous situation, predict what can happen, decide what could be done to prevent a crash and execute your decision in a smooth, predictable manner.

Moreover, having a DDC certificate in Fiji is mandatory when applying for a Full license. The DDC classes are offered by LTA at scheduled venues around the country.
