Do not get stranded without fuel, always plan ahead

Mar 26, 2019

It is very important for drivers to have sufficient fuel in their vehicles before setting off on a journey.

Land Transport Authority (LTA) Chief Executive Officer Samuel Simpson said drivers should ensure that their vehicles have enough fuel at all times and also plan their trips ahead before driving to avoid getting stranded. A stranded vehicle on the highway poses an obstruction to normal vehicular traffic and can lead to potential collision situations occurring as well as inconveniencing the passengers in your vehicle.

If you run your vehicle so that the tank is very low the scavenge pump will pull rust or other debris into your fuel lines and thus cause potential fuel starvation and more delays and disruptions as you again fail at the roadside. Planning your journey is very important. Shortcuts will result in short journeys.

Don’t be tempted into saving yourself a little time or money in the present, it just might cost you large amounts of both in the future. Therefore, it is important when your tank is low, fill it up and you’ll have the peace of mind of knowing you’re going to make it home just fine at the end of the day.

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility.
