SUVA, Fiji (10 September 2024): The Land Transport Authority Board of Directors has announced the official appointment of Mr. Irimaia Rokosawa as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This significant leadership transition marks a new chapter for the Authority as Mr Rokosawa brings with him over two decades of distinguished experience in financial management and public service.
The announcement was made by LTA Board Chairman Inosi Kuridrani, who expressed his confidence in Mr Rokosawa’s ability to lead the Authority into a future of enhanced service delivery, innovation, and operational efficiency.
“Mr Rokosawa’s extensive experience in financial management and public service, combined with his deep understanding of the LTA’s operations, make him the ideal leader for this organisation.
"His contributions as Acting CEO over the past several months have been exemplary, and we are confident that under his leadership, the LTA will continue to uphold its commitment to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient land transport services for all Fijians,” Mr. Kuridrani said.

Mr Rokosawa has a longstanding and distinguished career, having served in various key roles within the LTA and other significant government and financial institutions. He took on the role of Acting CEO for the LTA in April 2023, a position he also held from October 2021 to July 2022.
During his tenure as Acting CEO, Mr Rokosawa demonstrated exceptional leadership, overseeing key initiatives and driving operational improvements that have positioned the LTA as a forward-thinking and customer-centric organisation.
“His expertise in financial management is well-established, particularly through his role as LTA’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2020 to 2022. As CFO, Mr. Rokosawa was instrumental in guiding the financial strategy of the Authority, ensuring financial sustainability and transparency while also driving cost-effective solutions to improve service delivery,” the Board Chairman said.
"Prior to this, Mr Rokosawa served as the General Manager of Finance and Administration from 2017 to 2019, where he played a crucial role in strengthening the LTA’s financial infrastructure and administrative capabilities.”
Beyond his contributions to the LTA, Mr Rokosawa has had an extensive career in public service, having held various leadership and financial management positions within the Ministry of Finance.
His roles included Acting Director of the Financial Management Information System, where he was responsible for overseeing the operation, management of government financial systems and preparation of the whole of Government Financial Statements.
He also led key units within the Ministry such as Financial Policy & Assurance and Asset Management Monitoring, where his leadership was pivotal in shaping financial policies and ensuring effective asset management across government departments.
Mr Rokosawa’s breadth of experience also extends to the Fiji Police Force and the banking sector, where he served as a bank officer with Bank of Baroda.
His diverse background across multiple sectors has equipped him with a unique perspective on financial management and public service, making him well-suited to lead the LTA through the evolving challenges and opportunities in Fiji’s transport sector.
In recognition of his expertise and leadership, Mr. Rokosawa was appointed as the Interim Deputy Chairperson of the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji (ACCF) in April 2024. This role further highlighted his commitment to public service and his dedication to advancing the interests of Fijian citizens.
“As the newly appointed CEO, I am committed to driving the LTA’s strategic vision, focusing on enhancing operational efficiencies, embracing technological advancements, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organisation,” Mr Rokosawa said.
“I look forward to continuing our partnership and working closely with all stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and the public, to ensure that the LTA continues to deliver on its mandate of providing safe, efficient, and sustainable land transport solutions for all.”
Mr Rokosawa will take up his official appointment as LTA Chief Executive Officer effective 1 October 2024.
