AUTHORITY OPENS NEW LEVUKA BRANCH

Nov 29, 2024

LEVUKA, Fiji: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) today marked a significant milestone with the opening of its newest branch in Levuka, Ovalau. This branch, the 25th in LTA’s network, reflects the Authority’s commitment to expanding its reach and improving accessibility for customers across Fiji.

Located in Fiji’s first capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa said the new Levuka branch would offer full services, catering to the transportation needs of residents and businesses on Ovalau and nearby islands.

He said this was a pivotal step forward for the maritime region, which had long been serviced through LTA’s regular island tours.

“Establishing a permanent presence in Levuka reflects the Authority’s dedication to addressing the unique challenges faced by Fiji’s maritime communities,” Mr Rokosawa said.

“Residents will no longer need to rely solely on periodic visits from LTA teams or travel to other branches for services. Offering vehicle registration, licensing, and compliance services locally will significantly reduce travel costs and waiting times for our customers.”

The CEO said the aim was to create a customer-focused experience that made accessing LTA services as seamless and convenient as possible.

He expressed gratitude to key stakeholders, including the Levuka Town Council, Provincial Administration, and traditional landowners for their unwavering support and co-operation in facilitating the establishment of the LTA Levuka branch, ensuring the delivery of vital transport services to the local residents and the surrounding islands in the region.

“Levuka’s historical and cultural significance makes this expansion even more meaningful and we are proud to play a part in contributing to the development and accessibility of services in this remarkable town,” Mr Rokosawa said.

LTA Levuka Office“The Levuka branch reaffirms LTA’s commitment to serving the people of Fiji, regardless of their geographic location. We look forward to building on this foundation to continue delivering exceptional service to all Fijians.”

Mr Rokosawa also noted that the new office also aligned with LTA’s broader vision of excellence and innovation, supported by its ongoing digitisation journey.

He said the Authority was adopting cutting-edge solutions to streamline operations, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall customer experience.

“The digitisation initiative includes integrating online platforms and automated systems to improve the efficiency of service delivery. Technology is a powerful enabler, and we are leveraging it to meet the evolving needs of our diverse clientele,” Mr Rokosawa explained.

“From vehicle owners and businesses to maritime residents, our goal is to deliver a smoother and more accessible experience for all.

“This strategic approach not only improves operational efficiency but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the LTA. Customers will soon benefit from digital tools that simplify processes such as license renewals, payment systems, and accessing critical information.”

Mr Rokosawa said the Authority would continue to explore opportunities to establish branches in underserved regions, focusing on enhancing customer convenience and addressing the specific needs of rural and maritime communities.

The LTA Levuka branch is located on the ground floor of the Levuka Market building and operates normal business hours.
