MINISTER TUISAWAU COMMISSIONS NEW NADI OFFICES AND, PORTABLE SPEED CAMERA

Feb 24, 2025

SUVA, Fiji: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) celebrated a significant milestone on 13 February 2025 with the official commissioning of three key initiatives: the establishment and enhancement of a fully-fledged LTA office in Waimalika, the opening of the Nadi Express Office in Martintar, and the nationwide deployment of portable speed cameras.

During the commissioning ceremony, Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport Honourable Ro Filipe Tuisawau emphasized the Government’s commitment to efficient, accessible public service and strengthened road safety.

“Nadi is a key player in handling a high volume of LTA-related work, including vehicles, licensing, and more. It is crucial that we have facilities that not only cater to this volume but also support both current and future developments,” Hon. Tuisawau said.

He emphasized the importance of planning ahead to meet the demands of population growth, business development, and transportation needs.

“Nadi has 27,545 registered vehicles and 33,867 licensed drivers – more drivers than vehicles. This highlights the importance of improving transport infrastructure.

“The $145,000 refurbishment of the Nadi Fully Fledged Office in Waimalika ensures that customers in the greater Nadi area can access services conveniently and efficiently,” Hon. Tuisawau said.

The upgraded Waimalika office features improved infrastructure, including ample parking and 12 customer service counters with dedicated Premium and Elderly Care services.

“The Nadi Fully Fledged Office serves up to 45 customers and offers all services, from vehicle inspections to license applications and renewals, as well as fee and fine payments, with the exception Defensive Driving Courses (DDC), which are conducted at the Nadi Express Office.”

The Nadi Express Office at RB Patel Jet Point Complex in Martintar expands the Authority’s reach, meeting the growing demands of Greater Nadi,” the Hon. Minister said.

He said with an investment of approximately $584,000, it reflects the Government’s commitment to enhancing service accessibility and efficiency for all Fijians.

“This commissioning of the Nadi Express Office will help address the increasing demand for LTA services, enabling the processing of more than 8,000 transactions per month in a modern and convenient setting,” Hon. Tuisawau said.

The Express Office spans approximately 300 square meters and features seven customer service booths and dedicated inquiries counter with seating capacity of 87.

“Beyond infrastructure enhancement, LTA’s dedication to modernization is further demonstrated through deployment of speed cameras and its transformative Digitisation Journey,” he said.

“Today’s commissioning is a pivotal step towards realizing our government’s vision of a modern, responsive and customer focused LTA.”

The Minister expressed his gratitude to the LTA Board, management, and staff for their dedication in bringing these projects to life.

LTA Board Chairman Inosi Kuridrani said despite the relocation challenges, LTA remained committed to prioritizing service delivery for Nadi and surrounding areas.

“Providing accessible services to the public is at the core of LTA’s mandate. With the commissioning, we take another significant step towards fulfilling this commitment,” he said.

“These facilities are designed to bring essential services closer to the people - reducing travel time, streamlining processes, and enhancing customer experience.

“From vehicle registration and licensing to road safety compliance and other critical transport services, this office will serve as a hub of excellence for the Western Division.”

He said the Authority recognized the value of time, and Authority’s goals to ensure a seamless experience for all LTA customers.

“By investing in infrastructure such as this we are strengthening service efficiency, reducing processing times, and fostering a more accessible and responsive transport regulatory system,” Mr Kuridrani said.

He acknowledged the Fiji Government, stakeholders and hardworking LTA team for making the project a reality.
